For example, a short-run book printer's paper mill changed the caliper on its house cream stock. Without Care, the agents would have computed every spine from last month's caliper, and every book over 300 pages would have come off the line with a cover a sixteenth of an inch short. Care read the mill's new spec sheet, reran last month's jobs against it, and corrected the spine rule before the next order. The prepress technician confirmed the fix at the press-ready gate on the first job that ran.

For example, an independent insurance agency's commercial lines team sees a carrier change its portal, a state change what a certificate may say, and a carrier leave a class of business. Without an owner, the agents submit the wrong form, issue yesterday's wording, or remarket to a carrier that no longer writes the risk. Care retests the agents against last quarter's renewals before anything goes live. Every quarter, we try to get around every gate.
